Episode 29: The Fast & The Bi-Furious

Buckle up QPQers, it’s time for our The Fast & The Furious retrospective! I saw the Super Bowl trailer for Fast 6 and decided this would be on our list for this year. Since Justine has seen about half of the 6 movies so far, the series still fits our criteria for a full on QPQ show. In this episode, we review the first two entries into the illegal street racing/heist series. And in the Once & Future Queue, Justine calls out Shonda Rhimes on her treatment of her gay and/or bi-sexual characters. All this in (appropriately) one of our fastest episodes yet!

Wondering where our term “bi-furious” came from? BAM!

Episode 28: What Are You On?!?

Ho. Ly. Crap.

Hey QPQers, been a while eh? We’re very sorry about our unexpected hiatus, but we’re back! And we’re back with two of the most hotly debated movies of the 21st Century, Donnie Darko and Southland Tales. Both films by director Richard Kelly are considered highly divisive and open to multiple interpretations. So of course we have to argue about what the hell they mean. Kick back, relax and let the Wave of Mutilation wash over you.

Episode 27: Up Against the Wall!

Welcome back to Quid Pod Quo, QPQers! Unfortunately Donnie Darko and Southland Tales have to wait for another day. But we did get to watch & review The Perks of Being a Wallflower and End of Watch. However for some reason we spend a lot of time discussing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (some spoilers!), Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and the TNT cop drama Southland (not Tales). Listen to Jared get apoplectic over manic pixie dream girls, and hear why Justine considers it a negative when a movie reminds her of one of her favorite TV shows.

Also, please take a couple of minutes to fill out our survey, so we can learn about our audience. Thanks!

Bonus Episode: Live Fast, Die Hard (Bad Girls Do It Well)

Well, we certainly weren’t planning on this episode, but after an impromptu double feature, we decided that we just had to record a bonus episode of QPQ. The fifth Die Hard and the first in a new (possible) YA supernatural love story series were our selections this week. Hear why we were so passionate about these and felt compelled to record a bonus episode!

Episode 26: Garcon Means Boy

Hey, hey, hey! It’s QUIIIIIIIIID Pod Quo! Two exes (Uma Thurman & Ethan Hop Hunt Hawke) square off this week. We try talking about the movies, but we get side tracked by tangents on LGBTQ issues and the greatness of Bobby De Nero and Russian literature. Both of us first saw these movies when we were roughly the same age (14), which one made a lasting impression, and which one is kinda “meh” even for the person who suggested it? Only one way to find out, listen to the episode!

Episode 25: Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos

Welcome back to Quid Pod Quo! Thanks for your patience, Justine’s had some sort of “flumonia” thing and that kept us from recording, as well as contributed to her voice and energy level being less than 100% for this episode. As for the episode itself, join us as we discus two of the most disparate we’ve ever reviewed: Steel Magnolias & Boyz N the Hood. I think the results will surprise you!

p.s. if you’re wondering where the name of this episode came from (besides having “steel” in the title), it’s the name of one of my favorite Public Enemy songs.

Episode 24: Sign Our Yearbook?!?!

2012 is in the rear view QPQers, so join us as we look back over the year in film and our first year as honest-to-god podcasters. We discuss our favorite movies of 2012 as well as our favorite and least favorite movies we’ve been forced to watch for the podcast.

Cringe we botch actor Fran Kranz’s name!

Marvel as Jared’s hatred for Vanity Fair still burns!

Listen to Justine’s list of actors from 2012 movies that she would leave Jared for!

Explore why Justine refuses to see Zero Dark Thirty!

Laugh at all the theatrical movies we think we’ll actually be able to see this year!

And thank you for joining us for the first step of our QPQ journey.

Fair warning: it’s a long’un!

And, apparently, there’s Gossip Girl finale spoilers. And not from Justine!

Episode 23: Everyone to the Sleigh!

Hey there, QPQers! Hope your holiday season is treating you kind. Join us as Justine makes Jared watch Home for the Holidays and Rise of the Guardians to try and find a holiday movie he’ll like! Also, stick around after the end them for a heated and somewhat spoileriffic Doctor Who rant/discussion! Catch you all in 2013!
